We usually see patients by appointment only, unless there is an urgent problem or emergency. Our friendly receptionist staff will be happy to assist you with any query. Patients require a current referral from their GP to claim from Medicare.

After Hours Emergencies

Dr. Bennett is available for emergencies. Post-operative care and contact numbers will be discussed with you before your operation. Contact with Dr. Bennett can be made via your local doctor, after hours medical services or the accident and emergency centre of your local hospital.

Fees

Medicare does not completely cover the cost of your consultation as set by the Australian Medical Association (AMA). Pensioners and concession card holders receive a 15% discount but confirmation is required at the time of the appointment.

If your fees are being paid for by another individual, organisation or government scheme, it is your responsibility to confirm that they have agreed to this or have written approval available at the time of your appointment. If they do not pay then you will be liable for the fees. If clarification is required, please discuss this further with the reception staff.

Informed Financial Consent

Receptionists at our surgery will inform you of the estimated cost of the operation/procedure. You will be asked to sign the Informed Financial Consent form to acknowledge that you understand your costs.

The Informed Financial Consent form will tell you about your operation/procedure and give you details regarding:

• The doctor who will be treating you during your hospital stay and the service performed.
• Estimated cost of the operation/procedure (these costs are only an estimate and may vary in the final account if your doctor has provided additional care to what was expected).
• How much you expect to pay yourself.

Weekends

Some Gold Coast general surgeons are available for weekend and after hours emergencies. If you require medical assistance on the weekends please visit the accident and emergency centre of your nearest hospital.
